Daniel Craig Is Set To Star In Luca Guadagnino apos;s Adaptation Of Queer

has officially signed on to tackle the leading role in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming film adaptation of the 1985 novel titled, Queer, reported <a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website class="mol-para-with-font">The 54-year-old actor will portray the shy and insecure character of William Lee, as he recounts his life in Mexico City where he pursues a discharged American Navy serviceman named, Eugene Allerton. 
After no longer being a part of the Bond franchise, the star recently opened up about the iconic spy, and revealed he had <a style="font-weight: bold;" target="_blank" class="class" href="/tvshowbiz/article-11525887/Daniel-Craig-reveals-suggested-James-Bonds-death-outing-suave-secret-agent.html">suggested his character's death</a> after the 2006 premiere of Casino Royale. <a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website class="artSplitter mol-img-group" style="style"> New project: Daniel Craig, 54, has signed on to star in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming film adaptation titled, Queer, reported Deadline 
The Knives Out actor will play the character of Lee, as he both befriends and attempts to pursue discharged American Navy serviceman, Allerton, who is based off of the author's real-life friend, Adelbert Lewis Marker.

William S. Burroughs' novel was published in 1985, but was originally written between the years of 1951 and 1953, according to Deadline. 
Queer was penned as a sequel to Burroughs' book, Junkie, which was published in 1953.  
The screenplay will be written by playwright, Justin Kuritzkes, who also wrote the script for Luca Guadagnino's upcoming sports comedy called, Challengers, starring Zendaya.

Luca has been attached to previous projects such as the film, Call Me By Your Name (2017), which followed the premise of a romance sparking, 'between a seventeen-year-old student and the older man hired as his father's research assistant,' according to<a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website class="mol-para-with-font">The movie garnered critical acclaim, and accumulated numerous accolades, such as an Academy Award for Best Writing.  
He also recently directed the cannibal love story, Bones And All, which premiered in theaters over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. 
The project starred Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell, and received awards at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, such as the Silver Lion.

Daniel recently discussed his decision to step down from the beloved Bond franchise during an interview with <a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website Times Culture.</a> 
He notably starred in a grand total of five films as the iconic spy beginning in 2006, with the character being killed off in, No Time To Die (2021).  
'I was driving away from the Berlin premiere of Casino Royale with Barbara Broccoli,' the talented actor had recalled, referencing to the producer of the rebooted franchise.
'I had genuinely thought I would do one Bond movie, then it would be over. But by then we knew we had a hit on our hands.'

After asking the producer how many Bond films he would most likely take part in, he asked Barbara the big question, 'Then can I kill him off?' She said, ‘Yes.' 
After filming his fifth movie in the beloved franchise, he expressed, 'This is it. I don't want to do any more.' 
During an interview with<a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website Variety</a> last year in December 2021, Daniel further brushed on the topic of making the decision to kill off his version of Bond, the first time it had been portrayed on the big screen. 
'It's the only way I could see for myself to end it all and to make it like that was my tenure, someone else could come and take over,' he informed the publication. 
In regards to who could possibly step into the shoes of Bond has yet to be revealed. However, <a style="font-weight: bold;" class="class" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" website Sun</a> recently reported that Bullet Train actor, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, had taken a screen test for role.
